BICO PET-PE Round Meraspring

Fibres for the ultimate comfort
Meraspring fibres are BICO-fibres made by Polyethylene (PE) in the sheath and Polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) in the core. The use of the polyester polymer in the core provides bulkiness to the nonwoven as PET is very resilient. These properties result in a very cushiony final product. In addition to the very good resiliency, PET has higher melting temperature which allows a broader bonding/working window during the converting of the fibres.

Finish options

• PHIL: Standard Hydrophilic
• PH: Permanent Hydrophilic
• PH/HW: Permanent Hydrophilic and High Wicking
• PHOB: Hydrophobic
• PH BOTANICAL: Permanent Hydrophilic with Botanical Essences
• SL: Finish suitable for Spunlace technology

Benefits for the nonwovens:

  • The selected raw materials and process conditions give to final nonwovens very high softness levels.
  • The opacity levels can be adjusted by adding TiO2 in the fibre formulation.
  • The PET in the core of the fibers provides a high bulk which results in a loftier nonwoven.
  • The liquid management performances can be adjusted by the finish applied. For a topsheet as an example a Permanent Hydrophilic finish (PH) is applied, whereas for Acquisition Distribution Layers (ADL) a Permanent Hydrophilic finish with High Wicking properties (PH/HW) will bring the best results in terms of liquid transport.
  • The high melting temperature of the PET-polymer allows a wide bonding window on the converting lines.

The fibres can be used for Calender Thermo Bonding or Air-Through Bonding technologies, but are also suitable for Spunlacing and Needle Punching.
